Navigating the Beautiful Chaos of Art and Motherhood: Ila Arun
My life has been a whirlwind of creativity, challenges, and triumphs, as I’ve strived to balance my roles as a performer and a nurturer. This is my story, filled with passion, dedication, and the unyielding belief that art has the power to change lives.
Embracing My Many Hats:
My journey in the world of arts began with a love for theater and music. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of exploring various artistic domains, from acting and singing to music composition and writing. These experiences have shaped me into a versatile artist, allowing me to express myself in ways I could have never imagined. Every role I’ve taken on has added a layer of depth to my identity, enriching my understanding of the world and its stories.
Venturing into Playwriting:
While my musical and acting endeavors are well-known, my venture into playwriting is a chapter of my life that not many are familiar with. Writing has always been my refuge, a way to pour out my thoughts, emotions, and observations. Crafting four original plays and adapting the works of renowned playwrights have been transformative experiences. The recognition I received for my adaptation of Henry Ibsen’s plays by the Sahitya Anartic Academy was a humbling affirmation of my passion for storytelling.
The Birth of “Babies Blues”:
The genesis of my play, “Babies Blues,” was fueled by a desire to shed light on an important but often neglected topic: postpartum
depression. As a woman who has experienced the journey of motherhood, I felt a strong connection to the stories of young mothers facing this challenge. The play was born from a need to create awareness, to destigmatize the conversations surrounding mental health during and after pregnancy. It was an opportunity to extend a helping hand to those who needed it the most. I emphasized the importance of open dialogue, familial support, and self-expression. My heart goes out to the young mothers who may be grappling with challenges silently. Through “Babies Blues,” I aim to create a safe space for them, where they can find solace, understanding, and guidance.
Balancing Family and Art:
The journey of an artist and a mother is a balancing act that requires unwavering dedication. My experiences of juggling my career and family have taught me the significance of prioritizing and seeking support. In those moments of doubt and exhaustion, I found strength within myself and my loved ones. The ability to harmonize my roles has been a source of immense pride and joy.
As I reflect on my journey, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my fans and supporters. Your love and belief in me have fueled my creative endeavors and inspired me to push boundaries. I am truly blessed to have an audience that recognizes and appreciates the stories I tell, the characters I bring to life, and the music I share.
