Rummaging For The Right Resortwear

Choosing a look that’s not casual yet chic is the perennial paradox that one faces when you have an invite that says “dress code casual chic”. I rummage through my overstacked cupboard of clothes and never regret any of those impulsive moments when I brought a dress just for the stylish button or the frayed edges or the inside of a hemline of an ajrak border that shows when you sit cross-legged during that lunch. Well, honestly did others notice the intricate art of ajrak prints.  I don’t care I just have my personal love story with my hidden hemline that pops out to say art everywhere.

After this entire process of picking one tunic or polo shirt with pants, I am still dissatisfied. I got to nail this. Feminine and so sure of my vulnerability that I want to embody in my damsel not much in distress look. Finally, I put the picture in my head and believed with my heart that a cowl or drape resortwear will look stellar against the evening sky with my mojitos & the next day a perfect cosmopolitan in my hand. I hold the blue against my skin for day one when we celebrate the promotion with my colleagues at sundowner & day two my orange drape dress that I will wear with my besties and bask in the attention and play games with the stem of my glass holding the cosmopolitan and my carefully chosen statement handcuff that doesn’t cuff but gives the freedom to choose with my manicured fingers the appetisers.

Whoever says resortwear is casual I can swear it requires an eye for detail and a well chosen the outfit that belies the fact that dressing & looking the part isn’t casual business at all.

Here we come, draped in my dream of fabulous fabric that moves with the ease of a dancer.
